Summary

In this episode, we welcome Alan Smyth and Jessica Midkiff to the show. They are the co-authors of the book Men! Fight for Me: The Role of Authentic Masculinity in Ending Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking. They both work with a nonprofit called Saving Innocence, an organization that serves, empowers, and advocates for child victims of sex trafficking. Alan is the Executive Director of Saving Innocence, and Jessica is a survivor of sex trafficking. She was sold for sex thousands of times over a 10-year period, and she has spent the last decade-plus advocating for and helping younger victims of sex trafficking to regain their mental and physical health. In this interview, we discuss the shocking number of children that are sex trafficked in the US, how children get pulled into sexual exploitation, the role pornography has in sex trafficking, a day in the life of a child that is sold for sex, why legalizing prostitution would lead to even more trafficking, the role of pimps in “the life,” what men can do to stop sex trafficking, and much more. This one is rough, guys. Let’s get into it… Episode notes and links HERE Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
