Welcome to the program, everyone. I'm Christiana Manpur in London. The week that derailed diplomacy with an Israeli strike in Qatar targeting Hamas leaders as they were trying to discuss the latest proposal to end the war in Gaza and free the remaining hostages. Now those desperately awaiting outcomes are left in limbo.

And today we hear from both, a former hostage and a Palestinian journalist from Gaza.

First, as Israel pursues a full-scale invasion of Gaza City, those bearing witness for the world face ever greater danger. The Committee

to Protect Journalists counts at least 189 Palestinian journalists killed since October 7th. At least

26 of those, it says, were directly targeted. Al Jazeera has emerged as the dominant force

chronicling Israel's offensive in Gaza, despite efforts to silence

them. Ten of their journalists who have been killed in Israeli strikes. Israel accuses some of them

of being terrorists without presenting any evidence. One man became the face of the unimaginable

horrors these journalists endure, while Al-Dat-u is Al-Jazeera's Gaza Bureau Chief,

and he joined me here in London.
