I don't know if this is a controversy to many people, but it may be to hardcore NBA fans. Now, I was just asking you guys, Jerry, you're a Brooklyn Nets fan. I don't know why. I am a Knicks fan. Now, the NBA instituted a rule that the MVP has to play at least 65 games,

meaning you can only miss 17 regular season games.

And no matter what situation is, if you play 64 games, you are not eligible for the MVP.

And I know there are a lot of blowback from the players and former players.

Well, of course there is.

And one of the reasons the NBA did this is to keep the players on the court and not allow them to have back-to-back you know maintenance days yeah i get it so of course you know sGA shay gildjus alexander is the favorite to win the award right of course nicola yokech is in there kate Cunningham is in there. Victor Webbine Yama's in there. And Joan Brown of the Celtics,

who's having a great season as well. There's a real interesting situation that could develop where SGA and Yokic may end up missing more than 17 games. Then they're out. Then they're out. That's it. They made the rule. I understand why they made the rule. And a guy like Cade Cunningham, who's been playing and been playing well, uh, and who has the best record in Eastern Conference, and he's leading his team to that point could end up sneaking in there and winning it. And that and then to me, it's not even sneaking in there, quite frankly, you just mentioned six or seven names right there. Yeah. I can make a case for every single one of them deserving of the award. So if a couple of those guys don't play their 65 games, great, less to choose from because they're all, to me, they're all deserving. And by the way, Kate Cunningham, another unbelievable night against OKC last night. Yeah. And OKC was short-handed. Very short-handed. But still, they won and they won convincingly, and he's played in 51 games this year. So I think he's going to easily meet the mark of 65 games played, and his numbers are pretty impressive. And they're damn good, and that's part of it, which is why earlier in the season... By the last night, and he had a huge night. And earlier in the season, especially with the start they got off to, Jalen Brunson was a name. And we're obviously close to us in New York. But to me, he was someone deserving earlier in the year of mention of that. Now, they haven't played great of late, so... Well, they did win the NBA Cup. They did win the NBA Cup. But my point is, all those names you just mentioned, they are such good player. Like, how could you, again, Spirit of the Award, most valuable player, how could you take Victor Wimbignyama off the Spurs and not think that they wouldn't suffer dramatically? Like that's why if a couple of guys are not there because they don't play 65 games, oh, well, move on to the next guy. I know that kid's a great basketball player. He won over my respect, All-Star weekend. Because, you know, why? He has that, I feel like he's got that Kobe Bryant in him. He's got that Michael Jordan in him. He's got that competitive fire in him. And, you know, he's not taking anything for granted. So, and all the players, by the way, that were asked about the All-Star game, all said, and they all pointed to him, that he was the reason that those games were that much more competitive. Set the tone. Yes. No doubt. I like it. No doubt.
