Welcome to 95 Mac Daily for Tuesday, January 27, 26. I'm your host, Chance Miller. We are sponsored this week by Stuff, the clean and powerful to-do list application.

Leading off today, Apple has finally announced a brand new Air Tag 2 that's now available to order. It's simply called

0:23.2

the new air tag, but it is the formal successor to the first air tag launched nearly five years ago,

0:28.8

so it is a true second-generation air tag. It comes with an upgraded second-generation ultra-wideband chip

0:36.2

for improved range, including when using precision finding. This is the same second-generation ultra-wideband chip for improved range, including when using

0:38.8

precision finding. This is the same second-generation ultra-wide-band chip found in the iPhone 17,

0:44.7

iPhone Air, and latest Apple watches. Precision finding guides users to their lost items from up to

0:51.0

50% further away than the previous generation.

0:59.3

There's also an upgraded Bluetooth chip that expands the range at which items can be located.

1:05.1

For Apple Watch users, Airtag 2 is the first model to support precision finding.

1:10.1

So for the first time, Apple Watch users can use precision finding when locating an item, and this is supported on the

1:12.0

Series 9 or later and Ultra 2 or later. Just like on the iPhone, precision finding on the Apple

1:17.9

watch uses haptic, visual, and audio feedback to help you find your air tag while displaying a large

1:24.1

arrow on the screen pointing you towards it. Another key upgrade with the new

1:28.6

air tag is an improved speaker, which should also make it easier to find. Apple says that with an

1:34.5

updated internal design, the new air tag is 50% louder than the previous generation, enabling

1:41.6

users to hear their air tag from up to two times further than before.

1:46.0

The second generation air tag features the same overall form factor as the first generation model.

1:51.6

It's the same size, so all of your current accessories will still work with the new model.

1:57.0

It also uses the same battery as its predecessor, which is the generic CR 2032 coin battery.

2:03.6

And Apple says battery life is the same, and it should last for more than a year on a single battery.

2:10.4

Airtag 2 is available to order now.
