This year marks the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001.

Now a year ago on this show, we heard from Martin Richard who flew a Massachusetts Air

National Guard F-15 Eagle over Manhattan as events unfolded. Well, this year, we're joined by

another fighter pilot who was airborne that day. But as you'll soon learn, his circumstances

were just a bit different. Colonel Tim Conflin of the Colorado Air National Guard joins us now

to describe his experiences on 9-11-01. Hello, Conk, welcome to the show. Hey, Jellin, good to be here.

All right, so before we get to 9-11, tell me about September 10th and every day prior to that.

So you were just a, what, run of the mill, Air National Guard F-16 pilot?

Yeah, I did 10-years active duty while operational at 16s came on board with the Colorado Guard

February of 98. And I was a full-timer there, so I'm not an airline guy, so full-time instructor

with the Guard in Colorado, right at 9-11. And so prior to, again, September 11th, what was your unit?

Like, we learned from Opus that last year they did stand alerts. Did the Colorado Air National Guard

in the heartland of the country? Was it standing alerts of any kind? Yeah, so we were just a run

in the mill standard multipurpose F-16 unit. Whenever trained to alert, we didn't have aircraft loaded
