I think that guests want this.

Hundreds of millions of guests have voted and said they've wanted this.

I think millions of hosts want this, and those hosts are local voters.

So last week, I decided to cycle up a very, very steep hill in San Francisco because at the top, there's a huge

Masonic concert hall, which usually hosts music acts. Tom Jones, for example, is playing there

in a couple months. But last week, I went there along with the rest of the world's tech press

to hear a speech from Brian Chesky, one of the three founders of

Airbnb, which as you surely know is one of the most amazing startup success stories in

recent memory or really ever.

So here's the very quick version of the Airbnb story.

They received their first check from an outside investor back in 2008, and it was for $20,000.

That's it. Today, the company is worth $31 billion, and it's the largest hotel company in the world,

but doesn't own a single building. Quite a trick. And on Thursday, Airbnb celebrated its 10th anniversary,

hence the big shindig at the concert hall.

The purpose was for Chesky to lay out his grand plan for the next 10 years and beyond.

Now I'm guessing very few, if any, got to attend.
