0:33.9 | I think there's a lot of interest around AI and it's getting a lot of attention grabbing |
0:38.2 | headlines at the moment, everything from chat GPT taking over all of our jobs to the kind of |
0:43.3 | doomsday scenario of robots replacing humans. It's really important to distinguish that there are |
0:48.0 | kind of four different types of AI and really there are only two that are having a real meaningful |
0:52.5 | impact in the way that we work today. |
1:00.8 | So those two are reactive machines, which is basically AI with no memory, just able to number crunch incredibly quickly. |
1:10.8 | So if you think about Netflix or Spotify being able to give you curated playlists, but based on analyzing every song or film you've ever watched, that is a reactive machine. We then have limited memory AI. |
1:12.6 | So this is the kind of AI that does improve over time, |
1:15.6 | a bit like how our brains develop as children, so those neurons all connecting. |
1:19.6 | And this AI is seen in chatbots and self-driving cars, |
1:22.6 | AI that effectively is learning as it goes, |
1:25.6 | as well as remembering what's gone on before and then |
1:29.3 | using that to predict what might happen in the future. So that's a really interesting form of |
1:33.4 | AI which is still fairly new in terms of the way it's starting to get used today, but obviously |
