Welcome to another talking feds one-on-one. I'm really privileged today to be talking to,

by my light, one of the most interesting, innovative, and far-seeing members of the House

of Representatives. Representative Rocana is a Democratic congressman that

representing California's 17th district near Silicon Valley, right? Not exactly in the heart

of as you're always characterized. Actually, it is the heart of it, Cooper Tino, Sunnyville,

Santa Clara. Okay. So elected to the House in 2016, he's known for his sophisticated but progressive views on technology and economic innovation, befitting someone who is from Silicon Valley, but also economic equality, environmental sustainability. So really a mix of policies that aren't necessary combined in a single member so frequently.

So I was really eager to a chance to talk to you.

Let's start with Silicon Valley.

So I guess you are, you consider Cooper Tino in the heart of. It's just such a singular

district in the country. If I'm not mistaken, more than half of the residents there are non-US

born. There's a lot of wealth, but also a lot of kind of views of, I would say, it's an unusual

district in being for high taxes and low regulation.

I just wanted to ask you, what's it like for you?

You're kind of an ambassador to a foreign land when you're in Congress.

You're seen as

Mr. Technology, Mr. AI. Is that role for your colleagues, you know, kind of like you're the

PhD in the room? I wouldn't say that. And you aren't going to get much done or be popular
