Hi everybody, John Don Van here and welcome to Intelligent Squared and we have put together

given the crisis in Ukraine with the Russian invasion a special urgent debate and there are of course

a lot of things going on. This is a very, very fluid situation. The facts on the ground are changing

on a daily basis, an hourly basis, even sometimes a minute by minute basis. But there is one

persistent and fundamental question confronting what's happening and figuring out a response on

the part of the West. Back in 2015, then President Obama asked this question out loud according to

the New York Times when he said, will someone tell me what is the American stake in Ukraine?

Well, that's what we are going to be exploring but we're going to be doing it from the broader
