Today, a cursor agent deletes a rental car company's entire production environment and then

admits it didn't know what it was doing.

Oops.

Let's start with what you need to know with that big story.

Yeah, so Saturday morning, Life of Jer on X, aka Jair Crane, the CEO of PocketOS, posted an explanation of how an agent that he was using from the coding platform cursor, which, by the way, he was the most current version of cursor.

He was paying for a top tier.

This was not, you know, trying to fly by night on it.

That agent from Cursor accidentally deleted the production environment for PocketOS.

Now, PocketOS is a Utah company that makes a software platform for luxury car rental companies, membership clubs, independent dealers, etc.

So as you can imagine, that caused quite a problem for everybody trying to rent a car, sell a car,

all that stuff using the PocketOS platform.

Crane made a detailed explanation on X. Go read it. It's a good read. He really gets into,

you know, some of the code that happened and the entire text of what the cursor agent explained

about what it did. But here's the oversimplified version. A cursor agent was working on a task

in the staging environment and found a credential mismatch. So in an attempt to solve that problem

without having to bother the human, it found an API token in an unrelated file for Railway. Railway
