Crowley’s experimentation with the plant in achieving Samadhi, or “Union with God”, to connect with his Holy Guardian Angel to receive guidance. Early experiments from men like Charles Henry Allan Bennett, John Raleigh Briggs, George S. Davis, James Mooney, Dr. Silas Weir Mitchell and member of the Golden Dawn, William Butler Yeats all set the tone for the hidden trials the Great Beast would embark on. Lastly, Joel looks at Crowley's mescaline parties he performed in the United States and his use of the drug to bring him closer to what he believed were the Secret Chiefs.
