Two big players in the world of climate change and environmentalism recently passed away.

Both led large organizations. Both quietly pushed their beliefs into the mainstream.

But they were working at cross-purposes.

David Koch, one of the famed Koch brothers, helped to undermine climate science

and ensured that America's Republican Party

absorbed some of the brothers' libertarian agenda. Steve Sawyer elevated Greenpeace from a ragtag

group of vigilantes to a global force of environmental activists. We take a look at their

legacies.

But first... There's a spring in the step of France's President Emmanuel Macron.

Though conflict and theatrics were predicted,

the G7 summit he hosted last month came off without a hitch.

He eased President Donald Trump's mind over a French digital services tax and attempted,

at least, to bring Mr. Trump and Iran's president Hassan Rouhani to the negotiating table.

It really was the G7, and you have been a spectacular leader on this, and I want to thank you, and I want to

thank the great country of France. Thank you very much. His time on the world stage has allowed

him to forget, for a moment, civil disorder at home, where the Gillesgé-Jean or yellow jackets

have haunted Mr. Macron's tenure.

They began as protests against fuel costs, blossoming into far wider discontent.
