Let's dive in. We start in Texas, where a jury has found Carmelo Anthony guilty of first-degree

murder in the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, bringing one of the most shocking

and emotionally charged criminal cases of the past year to a major turning

point.

After roughly three hours of deliberation, jurors in Collin County returned a guilty verdict

against Anthony, now 19, for the killing that occurred during a high school track meet

in Frisco on April 2nd, 2025.

As the verdict was read, Anthony reportedly broke down in tears.

His mother, Kayla Hayes, later took the stand during the sentencing phase and begged jurors

for mercy.

Fighting back tears, she said, he's my oldest.

He'll always be my baby.

She continued, I know my son, and he's very sorry for what he did.

And finally, please have mercy on my son.

Anthony himself was visibly emotional throughout the proceedings.
