Welcome to The Wally Show, Aftercast, all the stuff we didn't get to during the course of the show today, including this revelation, our own Betty Rock got scammed.

0:08.7

I'm so sad.

0:10.4

Yeah, I think you were in the bathroom when I was telling this story.

0:14.8

So I got on TikTok and I always make fun of Wally because he always falls for those dumb ads that come up. And he sits there and he watches them, which is really dumb. I will say this. Because they're just going to give you more if you just keep doing it. I did avoid one recently because it was like a build your own watch thing. And I was all excited about it. And then I emailed them a question and they never got back to me with the question. And went I'm not going to spend the money if you won't even try to get me as a customer

0:42.0

no way.

0:42.3

It was probably, yeah, it was probably not even a real thing.

0:45.3

So I saw this ad for this bed sheet that it's like a border bed sheet.

0:51.3

So it kind of makes, it puts a border around the edge of your mattress and it kind of makes it like a pocket that you can just settle into. And I thought that looked like the comfiest thing and it was only $40. And you love sleeping. Yeah. And I was like, that is a win. I want that for $40. Right. So I did it, send in my money and it's been about a month since I did that. And I was like, where is that? Yeah. And I had gotten a confirmation email. I look at that email and the email said, if you have any problems, email this email, and it's like a Gmail account or something. And then you click on the links because it's like if you click this link,

1:28.2

you can track your package. I click on it. It's like this website no longer exists.

1:33.6

No. So then I see another video on TikTok advertising the same bed sheet that I had ordered.

1:39.8

And I look at the comments on it. And it's from so many people saying, don't, don't buy this. It's a scam like I did and I had to get with my bank, all this stuff. The scam is the good, like the comments is a good tip because I don't always read the comments. You're really good about that. But yeah, if you look down and you see a bunch of people going, yeah, this did not go well for me.

2:01.7

It's a good thing. Did you think about calling your bank and trying to cancel it? I thought about it. And I still could, I guess, but I haven't yet. Yeah. Are they probably already got your money if it was a month ago? And I was just hoping. I know. I'm still hoping that it's going to go. I know. I had done this thing because I was looking for fake Rolexes and I'm like, there's no way they could be this cheap. And there's a whole bunch of different people selling them online. And so I was saving the links of these different ones I was looking at to go back and look at them another time, be like, okay, well, maybe

2:34.4

I'll do this now. And so then I would go back to the links I saved and they, none of them worked. I'm like, oh, I dodged a bullet there. Yeah, because you probably, that would have probably probably been like around, what, $200 that you would have gotten scammed? Oh, yeah. We bought a, we bought an electric bike

2:49.2

for our house, probably, or for our apartment.

2:52.0

It was probably like six year, five or six years ago.

2:54.2

Yeah.

2:54.5

We spent the money and everything. And the website looked bad. I wish I could go back and be like, you are so dumb for this. Oh, no. We paid that money. And you got scammed. And we got scammed. Nothing happened. We sent them an email. Money went right back. Oh, what? It was so bizarre too, because I'm like, we just lost so much money on this. So you got their money back? We got our money back for that one. I had pushed that website to like two people that I knew who wanted bikes for their home. So, and I was told by them, they're like, this looks bad.

3:25.3

And you're like, everything's misspelled.

3:28.7

I've already bought the B-Y-K-E.

3:31.7

Like, it's tough.

3:34.2

I will say this, that they are getting better and better and more sophisticated.

3:38.7

Because for a while, you knew the website was all misspelled and janky looking.
