Terry watched from the window as the group walked out of view around towards the front entrance to the hotel.

Did the man with the shotgun really think he could get past the barricade?

Besides his coil of rope, they didn't seem to have much in the way of tools.

Terry looked out across the car park.

More zombies were shambling in from all around, perhaps a dozen in total.

The lowering evening sun cast their shadows out before them, long and groping towards the hotel.

They'd been drawn by the sounds of life.

Gunfire, slamming van doors, and the mindless braying of morons, all sounded as a dinner bell to the dead, and

the bell had certainly been wrong.

What do you think, Sasha?

He murmured to the cat in his arms.

Can we count on the rotters to kill him?

What do we have to do it ourselves?

Sasha purred, which Terry took as being agreement with the latter point.

Hmm, I think you're right.

We can't take any chances, can we? He put her down and went through to the adjacent room. He

stockpiled a lot of canned food, some from the kitchen of the hotel, and some that

he Joseph and Mr Campbell had retrieved from nearby shops and houses on
