President Trump has pulled the U.S. out of the JCPOA, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

That's the official name of the Iran Nuclear Deal.

It's been regarded, of course, as Barack Obama's most

important foreign policy achievement. Will ending it be seen as an achievement for President Trump?

Or a colossal blunder? Parties to the deal included Russia and China, along with France and Germany

and the United Kingdom. The president said he made his decision after consulting with allies and partners and friends from across the Middle East.

After these consultations, it is clear to me that we cannot prevent an Iranian nuclear bomb under the decaying and rotten structure of the current agreement.

The Iran deal is defective at its core. If we do nothing, we know exactly what will happen.

In just a short period of time, the world's leading state sponsor

of terror will be on the cusp of acquiring the world's most dangerous weapons. Therefore, I am

announcing today that the United States will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal. President Trump, speaking

from the White House just a few days ago, Y. J. Fisher served in the State Department from 2012 to

2016, including as assistant coordinator for Iran nuclear implementation. YJ. Fisher, thanks a lot for

joining our program. It's good to be here. Respond, if you will, to what we just heard from

President Trump. I think it's an unfortunate statement. One of the things that was very unclear

from the president's statement is how pulling out of the nuclear deal makes America

safer. It was a question actually posed to him at the end of the press conference, and it's the

key question that he has yet to address, right? There is no plan for how pulling out of the nuclear

deal will better contain Iran's nuclear ambitions, no plan for how

we will replace the access we had to Iran's facilities and the visibility we had into their

program, no plan for how to get a better deal. And no plan for how this helps us push back on
