Welcome to After The Fact, a Knowing Faith Many episode where we look to take a big question and address it in just a few minutes. Typically the questions we consider will line up with

our larger topic for the season and that is certainly true for our time today.

We are discussing Genesis 1 through 11 unknown that is certainly true for our time today.

We are discussing Genesis 1 through 11 on knowing faith this season and today I get to chat with Dr. Walter Strickland.

Dr Strickland is the assistant professor of systematic and contextual theology at the

Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he also serves as the associate vice

president of diversity. He is an author, editor, and contributor to many books, including Every Waking Hour,

Baptist in the Christian tradition, for God so love the world, and plain theology for

playing people, which at our church we're actually using for a year-long theological program and we're loving it.

So Dr Strickland, welcome to After The Fact, thanks for joining us.

Thanks for having me. It's good to be here.

Absolutely. Well here's our big question for today. Why is the doctrine of the Amago day?

Why is the doctrine of image bearers of God

crucial for our current moment?

So that's a massive question, which I guess is what we're doing this season.

And I think the importance for this particular moment is that the adversary and the world

around us is trying to convince us that we are either what we do or our appetites.

And so I'll flush that out and say, well, first of all, neither of those can function as the seat or the essence of our

personhood or who we are, although God does desire many of these things to be a part of

our lives. And so let's say take for example our work.

So in Genesis 11 versus 1 through 9,

we see the story of the Tower of Babel.
