Hi everybody, Cheryl Ackison here. Welcome to another edition of Full Measure After Hours.

The death of Ashley Babbitt at the hand of a still unnamed capital police officer is one of the most

secrecy shrouded police shootings of our time. We're likely to know more when a civil suit is filed by her

surviving husband. This week's Full Measure focuses on a story that I know there's a great deal of

interest in. Four months now after those capital riots, there is one verdict and that is there was

only one homicide that day and that was that of an unarmed protestor named Ashley Babbitt,

an Air Force veteran who was shot and killed by a Capitol Hill police officer.

Prosecutors have announced that they will not charge the as-yet unidentified officer who is an

African-American lieutenant on the force. But that's far from the end of the story.

First let me say that I was not able to get an interview with somebody directly representing

the Capitol police officer who did the shooting. The attorney for the police officer said he

would do an interview but then never really closed the deal. He did issue a statement and some

information to the press after it was announced by prosecutors that the police officer would not be

charged. We will have some of that in the story on Full Measure. I also was not able to get an

interview on his behalf from the Capitol police. So my producer, Daniel Steinberger and I,

said about trying to find somebody that could reasonably provide the police officer's viewpoint,
