Welcome to another edition of Full Measure After Hours.

Today we'll go a long way toward understanding exactly what NATO is, what it has to do with

us and what it has to do with the Russia Ukraine War.

One of my favourite things to do as a journalist is to find out about and explain things that

we otherwise tend not to explain.

Or sometimes maybe we don't even understand ourselves, those of us who work in the news.

And we often, I think, just use terms and report things we don't fully understand.

And we talk to the audiences if they already know everything.

And in doing so, I think we leave you out of a lot of news events and discussions.

Because if you don't already know about the news we're talking about and all the background,

we'll make it hard for you to pick up on it and understand.

I was guilty of this as a young journalist.
