| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Brian Kilme show how are you? Yes, I am Mary Walter sitting in for the amazing Brian Kilmeade. |
| 0:25.0 | A lot of talk about we're taking out the old year, bringing it in the new year I think we're all hoping that 2023 is better than 2022. |
| 0:37.0 | Unless you had an amazing 2022 in which case let's hope it continues in to 23. |
| 0:44.0 | A lot of that's going to depend on your wallet. A lot of that's going to depend obviously on the economy. |
| 0:49.0 | Let's talk about that and get David Nelson, Bell Point chief strategist and host of the money runner podcast to look into his crystal ball for us. |
| 0:58.0 | David, welcome to the Brian Kilme show. Hi. Hey, thanks for having me. Absolutely. So I've been doing some reading about what's going to happen with the economy or what people think is going to happen with the economy in the coming year. |
| 1:12.0 | Now, let me preface this by saying that I am absolutely shocked, gobsmacked, whatever words you'd like to use that Joe Biden has not crashed the economy. He is the luckiest man alive. |
| 1:23.0 | I mean, didn't we all think this was going to be 08 all over again and house prices were going to plummet and it was just going to be terrible. |
| 1:31.0 | How has he not crashed the economy? How is this happening? |
| 1:36.0 | You know, the truth really lives on the extremes is usually for somewhere somewhere in the middle and there's been a lot of mistakes here. |
| 1:43.0 | But the economy, you know, overall in the United States has been obviously very resilient post COVID. |
| 1:49.0 | But the clouds are clearly there on the horizon and they think the biggest problem right now for the economy and for the Federal Reserve, J. Powell is they've got to get a handle on inflation because if you let that run out of control, |
| 2:02.0 | it permeates and crush everything. |
| 2:05.0 | And I would say the biggest message that J. Powell is trying to send out there right now is he wants America to lose their jobs. |
| 2:11.0 | It's going to be the only way he can get the inflation picture to where he wants it. |
| 2:16.0 | I think he understands that peak inflation, you know, the commodity inflation, the prices of the pump and the grocery. |
| 2:25.0 | I think the peak is largely behind us, but what he wants to get a handle on is wage inflation and he'll do anything to crush that. |
| 2:33.0 | Well, that's cheery. |
| 2:36.0 | So here's where I get confused because a lot of so many people are getting paid more to stay home than they are to work. |
| 2:45.0 | So first of all, how do I get on that gravy train? That's what I want to know. |
| 2:49.0 | You know, because I'm the idiot working, but the other, how long can we sustain that if more people go on to the system, can the system sustain that? |
| 2:59.0 | I can't see how I mean, look at our level of debt in the United States right now is higher than it was at the end of World War II. |
