Summary

Week 10 gave us some of the craziest finishes of the NFL season. The Houston Texans pulled off a last second victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, where rookie QB CJ Stroud basically “out-Burrowed” Joe Burrow himself, inserting himself into the MVP conversation in the process. Elsewhere in the AFC North, the Browns came from behind to steal a win from the Baltimore Ravens, who had been gaining momentum as a Super Bowl contender in recent weeks. The 49ers offense is back at full strength with the returns of Trent Williams and Deebo Samuel, and they look like the world beaters we saw back in Week 1 again. And in Los Angeles, the Detroit Lions had maybe their biggest win of the season over the Chargers in a shootout…which might make Brandon Staley’s seat a little bit warmer. So today, Kevin Clark, host of This is Football, joins the show to discuss his biggest takeaways from Week 10. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Kevin Clark, my copy of the Week 10 NFL script did not prepare me for what I saw out there

0:07.0

because I saw a new name burst into the MVP conversation, an AFC North rivalry game and in a walk off field gold a contender

return to form maybe while exposing another and all of this while Travis

0:19.8

Kelsey and Taylor Swift were still out of the. I loved watching her run across to give him a

smooch. Where do you want to begin, Casey?

0:26.9

I want to begin with the aforementioned MVP candidate, CJ Stroud.

0:31.1

Okay. I just think that, you know, we kind of talked offline,

0:40.3

Clinton about whether or not he was an MVP candidate because that was the

0:44.6

buzzy tweet today. Is CJ Stroud as an MVP candidate and my initial thought

0:49.0

was okay well listen let's all calm down they lost to the Panthers within the last 30 days they

0:54.7

lost for the Falcons who shouldn't be feeding anybody so I said okay let's all

0:58.9

pump the brakes here even though I love how CJ Strath has been playing and then you say well who's out there that is a more

1:06.7

genuine MVP candidate who I mean the odds in Vegas are Tua, Lamar, Mahomes, and I think the Mahomes thing is obviously he's always

1:17.6

giving most valuable players in football, but it's, I saw the other day a stat that none of his 50 best starts in his career have occurred this year.

1:26.0

That's not the MVP in my opinion.

1:29.0

And so you think about Stroud, who on Sunday generated 17 offensive explosive plays which is tied for the

1:36.3

most by an offense fourth most by an offense in the last 23 years last week the

1:41.8

most efficient and most explosive passer in the entire NFL.

1:46.5

That's not rookies. That's not young quarterbacks. That's the entire NFL.

1:51.4

He has resurrected a Texas franchise that 13 months ago employed Jack Easterby.

1:56.0

He beat a really good Bangles team that I thought was rounding into Super Bowl contender form

2:02.0

heading into the last couple of weeks.
