Summary
On the second of two back to back episodes on christianity in the world today, I talk with my sister, LAURA SCAPPATICCI, host of the podcast THAT GOOD MAY BECOME.
We ask each other three questions about how christianity came into our lives, even though we were raised with no religion... and how that christianity is sometimes at odds with our communities and even, absurdly enough, at odds with the way christianity is itself of perceived today.
This is a very personal episode, and I'm so happy to share it with you.
Laura was last on the show on AEWCH 225 when she interviewed me about Rudolf Steiner as part of my series on esoteric christianity.

| 0:00.0 | Hello, friends. This is Against Everyone with Connor Habib. Well, the face of Christianity right now |
| 0:08.1 | is mostly just the one that a lot of us are, unfortunately, already used to, which is the facile |
| 0:16.3 | version that elies itself with politics or even cowerers in them. So there are podcast hosts and |
| 0:24.1 | influencers converting to Christianity to cover up their wrongdoing. There's politicians |
| 0:29.5 | invoking Christianity to justify killing. And like I said, in some ways, this is nothing new. Many of |
| 0:36.4 | the people who claim Christianity |
| 0:37.8 | are intent on obscuring or even destroying it. This seems to have reached, however, a fever |
| 0:45.1 | pitch with American political assassination and the intertensions of the Christian right in the U.S. |
| 0:50.9 | and elsewhere. I think that it means that Christianity is needed now more than ever, |
| 0:59.1 | but just to live, to preserve itself, to deepen itself for its gifts, the gifts that it's |
| 1:08.3 | received into itself of gold, frankincense, and more, and the gifts that |
| 1:12.7 | it offers, culture, the political realm, the economic realm, the gifts that enrich our lives as we |
| 1:19.1 | connect with our neighbors and look upon nature. Why would anyone want to be a Christian right now? |
| 1:25.3 | Because those gifts are there. Since I'm a Christian, an esoteric Christian, which is a sort of Christianity that might be unrecognizable if we hold it up to those other kinds I talked about at the top, I thought it was important for me to talk about on the show as well. |
| 1:42.4 | To create inroads into connecting with the real esoteric and |
| 1:46.9 | ontological presence of the forces of Christianity, that is, the forces of truth, love, wisdom, |
| 1:54.7 | kindness, and justice, not the petty, hyper-politicized principles of vengeance or seeking power, to create those inroads |
| 2:06.2 | for me is very important. Not for the sake of spreading Christianity or doing missionary work, |
| 2:13.4 | but because those principles are important to figure out how that fits in our lives and how |
| 2:18.4 | especially our relationship to that being of love can live with us. |
| 2:24.4 | So I have done a two-part series of episodes on Christianity today. |
| 2:30.6 | The first was with Lamorna Ash, who appeared on against everyone with Connor Bebeb 303 to |
