Hi, this is against everyone with Connor Abebe. Friends, I've been doing a few episodes on work,

first about podcasting, then about content creation with best-selling author Caitlin Doty. But when I

talk about the work of my life, I mean, or at least I think I mean, my spiritual work.

But then when I consider spiritual work,

I have to say I'm not sure I know what spiritual work means.

Only that it is somehow distinct from everything else I do

and directed at what is deepest,

what connects truth with love,

with wisdom, with kindness, with righteousness. But is there something more to that than simply

spiritual practice? I think that's what a lot of people mean when they say they're spiritual work,

meditating, contemplating,

or if they're more ritualistically inclined, doing some kind of ritual, magic, that sort of thing.

I also notice sometimes when I say, my spiritual work is important to me, people will respond with things like,

well, my spiritual work, my spirituality is walking on the beach, or my spiritual work is spending time with my family. But I know that this isn't exactly right. I obviously don't want to

condemn the experience of spiritual presence and love that arises from

that sort of thing, from those life experiences. I just know that's not exactly what is meant, but what

is meant? And do we make enemies out of distinctions when we say, I want to do my spiritual work,

but I'm so busy with all these other things? In other words, aren't they all spiritual? Or do we banish

important distinctions by saying everything is spiritual?

On top of all that, there's the anti-work stance that I take and I believe is correct and

true and good, that work the way exists now, particularly with the wage labor relationship where we pay people for their time, is
