Well, friends, the core of this show, if you've ever listened to it, and if not, here's the core, is the spiritualization of the material.

That is, I want to present a truly non-materialist way to view the world, where spirituality

is seen as the wellspring of existence that informs how we talk about ourselves, politics,

economy, art, and more. And spirituality cannot be ill-defined. It's got to find its right

foothold and it's got to actually mean something. It can't just be vague. And one of the best ways, I think, to do that is to put it up next to materialism, including dialectical materialism and these sort of more complex forms of materialism and say, this is not that.

And how do we unfurl politics, culture, and economy, if this is not that, from this other source?

But, you know, to that end, I'm not just inspired by spiritual thinkers,

because I want to learn and use as a springboard all sorts of modalities, philosophies, traditions,

all that, to understand what the hell I'm talking about.

And there's lots on offer.

I often draw on the work from or have conversations with humanistic philosophers, political

theorists, atheists of

all sorts, scientists, and more. One of the thinkers I've learned the most from, although I haven't

had him on the show because he's dead, is the French psychoanalyst and philosopher Jacques Lacan,

who died in 1981. I did four years of Lacan who died in 1981.

I did four years of Lacanian analysis with two Lacanian psychoanalysts.

And I think Lecann's work has tremendous potential to be leveraged as a non-materialist and spiritual project,

despite most Lacanian's protestations, I'm sure that they would hate that I'm saying that, a lot of them at least.

But particularly in this formulation of its three clinical diagnoses, neurosis, perversion, and psychosis.

That's the only sort of diagnostic criteria or structures of people that go in for psychoanalysis

with a licanian analyst that's it just three that they can all be used in radical ways to
