Hi, this is against everyone with Connor Habib, a podcast featuring my conversations with

0:27.7

countercultural figures and presenting complex, spiritual, political, and philosophical ideas

0:32.9

and their intersections in an engaging and accessible way. I can't believe that this is the 150th episode of this show.

0:43.8

So I'm going to just talk for a while on this episode,

0:48.9

and I'm going to go pretty in-depth about the occult view of the dead, dying, death, its political importance,

1:02.2

all that. So, you know, obviously we are living in a time where there's a kind of mass

1:09.7

consciousness about death and the dead that's

1:13.1

permeated our everyday actions, our laws, the political sphere. And I wanted to lay to rest just

2:02.6

2:07.5

by my good friend Caitlin Doty, who's been on the show multiple times. Think about how differently

2:13.3

we would have handled disaster and corpses and funeral rights and rituals and regulations

2:19.3

throughout the past year if we had a different feeling about death.

2:22.8

Or you can think about death from a psychoanalytic perspective.

2:26.8

Peter Rollins, Todd McGowan, Elliot Morgan, people have been on the show, certainly do that.

2:32.7

And we can think about the ways our politics in

2:34.8

everyday lives would be changed if we accepted the Freudian concept of the death drive or

2:40.3

the Lacanian concept of the death drive and the lack. You know, accepting the presence of absence

2:45.7

and the longing for absence in our lives. That probably would have changed things in the past year. But I want to
