Hi, this is against everyone with Connor Habib, a weekly podcast featuring my conversations with

countercultural figures and presenting complex, philosophical, spiritual, and political ideas in an

engaging and accessible way. Friends, I think we can sense the impending challenges of technology as we emerge from these quarantine conditions.

Many books are being written about surveillance capitalism, the problems with Silicon Valley,

the hyper-tech blind solutions to very human problems. Technology has its own morality embedded in it,

and I don't just mean whether or not we should create new technologies, but technology itself.

And the ways that that filters out into or stems from history and oppression is really worth taking note of.

So to discuss this in the weirdest and most occult way possible, I invited Peter Beavergole onto the show.

Peter is an author most, I guess, pertinently to this

episode of a book called Strange Frequencies, which is all about how technology intersects

with spirituality, mysticism, occultism, and more. Peter and I talk about all sorts of things. We talk about the fact that

there are no unaltered states of consciousness, so altered state of consciousness is kind of a

misnomer. We talk about how technology can prohibit human growth in a lot of ways, even as we

think it's helping us advance or progress.

We talk about using magic to hack technology, how Elon Musk is a kind of anti-enchanter who's

deadening the world through the misuse of wonderment, why flipping a coin is a magic act of

occult technology.

And I think all of it really points us in the direction of the potential of seeing technology through a spiritual lens and through spiritual ideas and uses.

Peter's books all relate towards the intersection of spirituality and art and technology in some

way or another.

And in fact, he has a new book coming out later this year that's an anthology called Appendix

and the Eldridge Roots of Dungeons and Dragons
