Social distancing and the new normal.

We're surrounded by actions that seem new but aren't new,

elevated police presence, government overreach, pandemic.

But these, in a way, are all old narratives.

Social distancing is something that's been happening for a long time, especially with the introduction of tech into our lives in a fully daily integrated way. The new normal is just another

way of naming normality. The police were always abusive, the government was always

overreaching. There are pandemics in history. So what matters really right now is how we're

greeting all these old stories that are being presented as new ones. And I think the absolute

best person in the world to talk about this with is Stetschko Horvatt.

Stetschko is an author, a political organizer, and a philosopher of his many profound and politically potent books.

My favorite one, and the one I think you should start with, is poetry from the future,

why a global liberation movement

is our civilization's last chance. It's such a hopeful and even-handed book about the possibility

of interconnected movements. And he's also one of the co-founders of the Democracy in Europe

Movement, 2025, or DM 2025,

which is a broad-based coalition of thinkers, rebels, and political theories

committed to creating a true leftist alternative in European politics,

particularly at this time when the whole fabric of Europe and the EU

is being threatened with disintegration.
