I'm very excited to be here with myself, but also with you all.

Thank you so much, whether you are a long-time listener, if you are a

newer listener, whatever, for being here with me and hanging out through all these episodes.

I mulled over what to do for this episode for a really long time. Obviously, the clip thing

where I play, you know, the greatest hits from the show would have been the sort of obvious choice. But I didn't want to do that. I really wanted to focus on what this show is really about. And then I also thought, you know, I love that you all are listening so much. I wanted to sort of meet you in a way by giving you an

exercise that you could do at home as well to deepen your experience of everything that this show

tries to do. So I'm going to tell you all about that exercise and then I'm going to just kind of do it on the show

and then you can do it after the show is done. And what that exercise is is an autobiography of

ideas. So let me explain. So for me, this show is really about two things. The first thing it's about is ideas. The show will always be

about ideas. It's why I have guests on and I'm not like, I don't interview them, I'm not like,

oh, you have this book come out, you have this album come out or this movie, tell me about this

book, album movie. It's not interviews like that and said it's conversations where we really

deeply engage with the ideas that move through and exist within and evince themselves through the creative work that comes from these amazing people.

And the other thing that this show is really about is meeting, like really trying to meet people.

I only record in person. I don't ever do it remotely because I think that there's a real quality of meeting and warmth.

And there's a kind of depth of feeling when you sit down with somebody in the same room,

when you actually gather with them.

And also that kind of, you know, diminishes the likelihood of disagreement.

I don't really like getting into disagreements with the guests, as you've noticed. it rarely happens, even though there's plenty of stuff that people say that I might not agree with.
