This show was definitely lacking the same energy that it's had over the last few weeks.

This was not as fun as the last two weeks. It wasn't a bad show. It just felt like a relatively

uneventful show really up until the very end, where they shot a big angle coming out of the

Cody Rhodes Malachai Black match. This was Malachai Black's in-ring debut in an AEW ring and he did

exactly what he needed to do. He went in there and he made short work of Cody Rhodes in the main

event. He beat him in less than five minutes. It did not even take him a full five minutes to

beat one of the biggest names in the entire company. They put this guy over big time and then Cody

begins cutting what sounded like a retirement speech. Remember what I told you a few weeks ago,

he's going away for a while to film Go Big Show Season 2, so he was going to be disappearing anyway.

I don't buy for a second that he's actually retiring, but then it became clear what they were

doing. They were shooting an angle. He's taking his boots off and then Malachai Black comes back

to the ring. He hits him from behind with a crutch and the big question going off the air

did Malachai Black just retire Cody Rhodes? So it played out exactly the way that I thought it would,

which is that with Cody going away, you have a great opportunity to put this guy over as a mega star.
