Summary

With CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole and Ruby Soho in tow, AEW looked to capitalize on the momentum created at All Out with an eventful episode of Dynamite. Host Adam Silverstein dives into a somewhat-disappointing follow-up to All Out with MJF serving as the show-stealer an anticipated Jon Moxley vs. Minoru Suzuki match fell way short. "The Silver King" also discusses the final black-and-gold branded edition of NXT, WWE signing Gable Steveson to a unique contract and Paul "Triple H" Levesque facing unexpected health concerns.

Hey now, welcome to the Getting Over Wrestling podcast. We will get to the show.

0:03.6

In a moment, we normally save these cold opens, unfortunately, for somber news, but

0:10.2

literally seconds after I finish taping today's episode on AEW and NXT, WWE officially announced

0:20.5

that they have signed Gable Stevenson to a contract.

0:24.7

It's one of the more unique, modern, and forward thinking, I will even say,

0:29.6

contracts that I can recall in W.W.E. history. And because of that and because of how

0:34.1

important Gable Steeveson is to the future maybe of professional wrestling. I did want to

0:39.9

give it a minute or so off the top of this show. Basically, WWE has signed Steveson to a

0:45.9

name image and likeness deal, which means they will be able to sponsor him and pay him,

0:51.6

despite him returning to Minnesota to defend his NCAA heavyweight

0:56.5

championship.

0:57.8

Obviously, he also won the Olympic gold medal this year at the Olympics.

1:02.6

But Steepson is returning to college.

1:04.4

He's going back to the University of Minnesota for his senior season.

1:09.0

He's going to defend the heavyweight championship while simultaneously

1:12.6

being paid by WWE for his name, image, and likeness rights. Basically, they're going to be

1:18.6

sponsoring him. But what's extremely interesting about this is that WWE is going to build or construct

1:25.6

or rent, whatever, a nearby professional wrestling

1:29.1

training facility, either near the university, near his home, or somewhere in Minnesota,

1:35.0

so that he can begin his W.W.E. pro wrestling training while simultaneously competing as an

1:42.0

amateur. And it seems to be that as soon as he graduates or as soon as his eligibility is over

1:47.6

in college, he will then become a member of the WWE roster.
