The NFL announces its 2026 schedule tonight, and we already know it's looking favorable for the Jets.

Let's discuss why today on Locked-on Jets.

I'm John B from gangreneation.com. On today's episode, we're talking about the 2026 Jets

0:34.7

Schedule, which will be officially announced tonight at 8 p.m. on NFL Network.

0:39.9

We already have a little bit of information about the Jets' 2026 schedule. We'll discuss that

0:44.4

a little bit later on this show. We'll also talk about what an ideal jet schedule would look like,

0:50.0

but let's begin by talking about how favorable it is for the Jets. At least that's what I think.

0:54.9

Now, I'll be honest with you.

0:56.7

This is one of my least favorite days of the year because, first of all, I think it's

1:01.7

completely overhyped.

1:03.3

Do we really need a multi-hour special on NFL Network to announce the schedule?

1:08.6

It seems like every other league does this in a much more low-key

1:11.9

manner, and everyone's okay with it. But with the NFL, we need a TV special that spans

1:18.0

hours. I don't really understand it. But my bigger issue with the schedule release is I think

1:24.7

it's analyzed all wrong. When we talk about whether a team has an easy schedule or a hard

1:29.6

schedule, we're frequently looking at backwards analysis. We're discussing who was good last year,

1:35.7

who was bad last year. And the reality is for most of these teams, we don't really know.

1:41.3

In the NFL, the difference between a 10 and 7 team and a 7

1:46.2

and 10 team is very small. It might be a major injury. It might be a few bounces of the

1:51.1

ball. In fact, I'm not sure there's a big difference between an 11 and 6 team and a 6 and 11

1:56.1

team. So a team that made the playoffs last year might look imposing on paper, but by the time you play them, it might not be such a tough game.
