0:25.4	is a continuation of our three-part mini-series this week. It's the Family Disease of
0:31.0	Alcoholism. As you probably already know, it is something that affects millions of families
0:36.2	each year. It tears at the fabric of our society and costs us thousands of lives, not to mention
0:42.2	the pain, suffering, and torment it brings as well. A multifaceted and multi-generational
0:47.5	problem indeed, alcohol abuse and the disease of alcoholism is prevalent and is grown in
0:53.8	exponential ways due to isolation and hardships, especially during the pandemic. The latest
0:59.6	CDC data is striking. According to the CDC, alcohol-related deaths jumped 30% in the first
1:06.7	year of COVID. Dr. Dobson has written extensively about this subject before, and he's spoken
1:12.2	about the toll this disease has taken across generations of American families. And oftentimes,
1:18.4	the people who suffer the most in alcoholic families are the children of the alcoholics
1:22.8	themselves. This week, we've been listening to stories from our brave panel of four adult
1:27.9	children of alcoholics. They have shared about what they have endured, some vivid details
1:33.0	about the tremendous amount of hurt and trauma they've suffered. For many, the pain they
1:37.8	have endured has followed them into their adult lives as well. We must remember to seek
1:42.3	comfort in the Lord through all of our trials. And when you think of the words of Jesus
1:46.6	in Matthew chapter 11, verses 28 and 29, they really ring true for adult children of alcoholics.
