Hi Josh welcome to the commentary podcast thanks John what one time listener first time callers

I'm going to be here um Noah was pointing out just before we went on the air that there's a big

piece in the new republic which itself is a sort of slightly comic thing to say paying attention

to the republic 3000 words about how no no if you really look at the chart and you look at this

and you look at that school closures and the schools and everything really didn't have much of an

effect in the 2021 elections similarly I was noting that in the uh New York Times today

uh Nobel prize winning uh clown Paul Krugman um has a piece about how you know inflation

it's it's a narrative that inflation is bad uh you know that bouncing off Biden insulting uh

Steve Ducey excuse me um Peter Ducey uh can you blame him for saying it why is inflation

proving to be so much of a liability here's a gigantic chart look in 1979 inflation really

was a liability if you see here's a giant drop in the chart but right now inflation you know it's

bad but it's not really and you know people are just talking they're being talked it's being talked

at them and consumer sentiment is extremely negative it's the power of narrative that everything

is Americans are very down on the national economy they did blah blah blah now um

um doing a thing where you say that people aren't feeling what they're feeling is a very interesting

um pundit you can understand it like it's like uh no what everybody says is happening isn't really
