Summary

At the impeachment trial of Donald Trump, chief Democratic prosecutor Adam Schiff has claimed that the US is arming Ukraine "so that we can fight Russia over there so we don’t have to fight Russia here" and called Russia a "wounded, dangerous animal." Stephen F. Cohen, professor emeritus of Russian studies at New York University and Princeton University, says that Schiff's rhetoric is "ignorant and debased." Guest: Stephen F. Cohen, professor emeritus of Russian studies at New York University and Princeton University, contributing editor at The Nation, and author of "War with Russia: From Putin & Ukraine to Trump & Russiagate." 1:14.3

focus on Russia and hawkish posture towards Russia, especially from Democrats, was not going

1:20.1

1:30.2

That's what had been driving Russia into our mainstream for a long time.

1:34.5

I don't know. I've lived with Russia, I guess, going on 50 years now.

1:40.5

And one of the things I've learned is that being highly critical of Russia is good politics

1:47.5

in the United States.

1:49.2

Nobody ever gets any points for saying anything good about Russia and only rarely for advocating
