Hello, my deconstructionist friends. Happy New Year. This is Adam Narlock, one of the hosts of this podcast.

0:09.1

And just like John recorded a little Christmas reflection or meditation.

0:13.4

And if you haven't had time to listen to that yet, I definitely encourage you to do that.

0:16.6

I also wanted to record a little reflection, kind of meditation, blessing, whatever you want to call it, to kick you off for the new year.

0:25.6

We're going to be taking January off of regular episodes, so we recorded a few of these little treats just to give you some additional content, something to listen to, reflect on, to stimulate some kind of new way of thinking, deconstruction, whatever you want to call it.

0:40.1

And this one I'm going to title New Year's Ear Resolutions.

0:46.5

New Year's Ear Resolutions, because we've got this thing that we do, I don't know if it's worldwide or not, I assume it is.

0:55.9

And when the calendar resets, and it's this time of year, we all, I don't care how hard you want to try not to

1:03.0

or say that you're not interested or whatever, we all start thinking about like how this year

1:07.7

is going to be different. What's going to be different about this year?

1:11.8

And it's so funny because we come to the end of an arbitrary calendar that was created by

1:17.3

somebody a long time ago, whether it was one of the popes, I think, or the Romans, or however we

1:23.1

got started. I'm not a history nerd like John. I'm more of the philosophical guy, but we started doing

1:28.5

this thing that at the end of the year, you start thinking about how the next year is going to be

1:33.7

different. And what we immediately and always end up doing, whether it's officially, some people make it

1:38.6

very official or unofficially, we start making like New Year's resolutions. Well, this year is going to be different

1:46.1

because of this. And I think what we actually mean, and some of us just say it blatantly,

1:51.3

is I am going to be different this year because of this, because of X, Y, or Z. And I just want to

2:00.4

share with you guys that, you know, I stopped making New Year's resolutions

2:05.6

and instead of making resolutions every single year, what I try to do every single year

2:12.9

at the start of the year now, which I guess you could call it kind of a resolution,

2:18.9

semantics at this point.
