Hello, it's Dan Levitart, and welcome to South Beach Sessions, which this week we're

going to do a little differently, longer, more personally, and it's going to involve telling

you a story and a secret, although it won't be much of a secret to those of you who are listening

closely in the shadows during the worst of the initial COVID lockdown.

Director Adam McKay, who is making more and cooler shit than just about anyone in Hollywood

these days, has become a friend of the show, which has been a huge thrill for me, professionally and

personally and creatively. I reached out to him many years ago, inspired by the funnier-or-die stuff he

was doing with Will Ferrell, and I was stunned to learn that he regularly listened to our show.

This is a guy who's practically responsible for a generation of comedy, going from Headwriter

on Saturday Night Live during its glory days to Kenny Powers and Anchorman and stepbrothers

and Talladega Nights, and he calls me now just to say how much he loves Chris Whittingham,

the fancy lad.

The same thing happened with Parks and Rex creator Mike Scher, who seems starstruck when

he got to sit with Billy Gill and Roy. Our show has gotten many compliments over the years,

but there are a few better than making those two particular guys laugh. McKay's Don't Look Up movie is in theaters now,

and it drops on Netflix this week,

and he's also executive producing succession,

dead to me, and a thousand other things

with an impossibly high standard of excellence.
