Hi and welcome to another midnight meets podcast or long form BBC 5 live interview and this one is with Adam Kay who became known in the public eye for a very special reason he was a doctor he He trained in obstetrics and

gynecology working on a labor ward and when he left a profession he wrote the

book this is going to hurt which sold millions and got made into a big TV show.

Since then he continues to write mainly children's books and perform also of course the big crowds.

So we had enough to talk for about two hours but alas

It's a pleasure and start by saying something really, really strange, but as I was sort of, you know, picking

through various interviews and Q&As and what have you with your good self preparing for

our midnight meets.

I thought, wouldn't it have been fascinating had we have been able to meet for five minutes,

once a year for the last 20 years and on that same day once a year for me just to ask you this

to say this thing Adam K tell me about yourself and then to put them all together. There's so many different people in there.

It's not been a conventional career trajectory. It's not what they said was going to happen
