about that. But today we're talking about the kidneys. And we're talking about the important role

that the kidneys play in regards to homeostasis,

i.e. keeping us alive. And then what happens when these...

It doesn't function, at least in the acute setting. So what's that mean? Acute meaning

really good looking? Short term. Short term, yes, as opposed to chronic long term. And generally

the barrier, the time barrier here is like three months, right?

Under three months, acute, longer than three months chronic.

Let's go with that.

Okay, we'll stick to that.

That's correct, just so everybody is aware, particularly in this case.

So we're talking acute kidney injury, previously known as what? Acute renal failure.

Right. So that's changed. Definition terms have changed. Yep. I sort of feel, and I'm no

professional here when it comes to A.K.I. People are surprised to hear you. Thanks for listening.

I would have thought acute renal failure is actually a better descriptor than acute kidney injury.

Because the kidney isn't always injured necessarily in A.K.I.

Right?

Like at least by the tests that we perform. Because it depends on what you mean by injury though.K.I. Okay. Right? Like, at least by the tests that we perform.
