The Whole Council of God. Father Stephen is a former Protestant pastor and Bible teacher in the

Reformed Church, but now an Orthodox priest serving at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church

in Lafayette, Louisiana.

But their plot became known to Saul,

and they watched the gate day and night to kill him.

Then the disciples took him by night and let him down through the wall in a large basket.

So he has to kind of escape under cover of night from the city uh to prevent the so he finds out they're plotting to kill him and so the other the other Christians they

put him in a basket now the walls the city walls at this point have people living in them

right he's just talking about Damascus.

Damascus, yeah.

So the city walls around the city, you know, are at places 20 and 30 feet thick.

And so there's homes, essentially, inside the wall, and these will have windows out, you know, that go on the outside of the wall and so this

is basically what they're doing he sort of climbs out the window well it's a long way down so they

have them in sort of a big basket they lowered the rope so that he could get out of the city and get

away at night of course that closed the, right, to prevent bandits and other

invaders.

So the only way out of the city at night, if you're going to do it in secret, is, you know,

over the wall or out the window.

Yeah, the gate has guards and stopped to go to the city during night.

Yeah, they wouldn't just let him out if he came and asked.

Those fighting against him have been hanging out at the gates waiting.
