Father Stephen is a former Protestant pastor and Bible teacher in the Reformed Church, but now an Orthodox priest,

serving at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Okay. We'll go ahead and get started when we get started in just a minute.

As I said, we're going to be picking up in Acts of the Apostles Chapter 14, just to

quickly sort of get us caught up to where we're at.

We've sort of moved into a new section of the Book of Acts.

The first part of the Book of Acts,

we saw a whole series of different events and different settings, sort of in the early church.

We saw, of course, St. Luke retold the story of Christ's ascension,

and we read about the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost in Jerusalem,

and the beginnings of the church in Jerusalem.

Then we also heard about the beginnings of the church in Antioch,

about St. Philip taking the gospel to Sumeria, and then the conversion of the Ethiopian eunuch, and we read about St. Peter going to Cornelius's house.

So we've had a whole series of different folks, and we read about Saul, now being referred to as Paul, who's St. Paul.

We read about his journey to Damascus after he had been persecuting the church and his encounter with Christ.

And so now he's sort of joined the Christian movement. We read about the beginning of that with St. Barnabas at Antioch, and they're preaching there.

And last time, right at the beginning, we read about how God told through the Holy Spirit

the community in Antioch to set aside, then still Saul and Barnabas, to go on this journey.

And so what we've been, what we were reading last time, and really what we're going to be reading about now for the rest

of the book of acts that's why i i bring this up is going to be this series of journeys

that st paul is going to take within sort of the roman world we read last time about the beginnings
