Guys, we are in Acts

Chapter 6. We kind of have the church getting a little structure going on. The apostles,

they want to pray and teach and preach. But there's these practical needs that have arisen.

So they're also doing some of the

stuff that Jesus, you know, maybe sometimes we don't like to think that Jesus actually told us to do. They take it kind of seriously. They're going to try to take care of the poor and that kind of stuff in their midst. And the orphans, the widows, all that kind of stuff. But it's a lot. And so it turns out that some people were, maybe they had a hierarchy of which poor people they were going to take care of first.

And then maybe there's some other people that, hey, maybe we can ignore these people if there's not enough to go around or if we haven't got time to do it.

And so they decide they're going to appoint some guys to do this work.

And we have a list of those guys.

They're going to be the ones that sort of take over this duty.

And one of those guys is Stephen.

And in verse 8, which is where we're at now, it kind of zooms in on this particular guy.

Indeed.

And so we pick it up at verse 8.
