Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible,

chapter by chapter, book by book.

Here on Searchlight, we are looking at a powerful message that is being preached by Stephen. We find this message in Acts Chapter 7.

The occasion is the arrest of Stephen. He was accused of saying that the temple would be destroyed and the customs of Moses would be changed.

This is very significant to our understanding of Stephen's message. These men who

were confronting Stephen had built their religion around a place, the temple in Jerusalem,

and a procedure, the law. In his message to them, Stephen is subtly but systematically

tearing down their religious assumption.

As we join our teaching today, Stephen is talking about Joseph,

and he has a very specific reason why he is doing this.

With the explanation, here now is Pastor John.

Jacob begat the 12 patriarchs, 12 sons who became the 12 tribes of Israel, and the patriarchs moved with envy, sold their brother Joseph into Egypt, but God was with him. Where was God with Jacob, or pardon me Joseph?
