How do you feel about the authority that God has allowed to be over you? Do you fight against it, or do you

flow with it? Well, since God has allowed the authority, it is good if we submit to it. And yet,

there are times when God says it is right to disobey that authority. Today, as we join our verse-by-verse teaching in Acts

Chapter 5, we will see an example of one of those times. And as we look at this example,

we will see some important criteria that will help us navigate this issue of authority.

With our study, here now is Pastor John.

And Peter and the other apostles answered and said,

we ought to obey God rather than men.

We must obey God rather than men.

You're telling us not to speak in his name. We must obey God. Even though you have authority, even though you are legislatively and politically responsible for this arena, the fact remains is there's a higher authority than you and that is God and he has told us to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. We have no other recourse. We must obey God rather than man. Now, if the authority over us, which the Lord has allowed that authority

to be in place, Romans chapter 13 tells us that police officers, those that keep the peace, are ministers of God.
