Last week on Thomas in the Bible, Jesus apparently wasn't clear enough about what he wanted, so the apostles have to decide amongst themselves how Gentiles can get into heaven.

They edit the Old Testament down to four commandments, no idol worship, no sex before marriage. God's okay with four skins now, and you can eat anything you like, as long as you don't strangle it or drink its blood.

This all gets written up in an official letter, and Paul, Barnabas, Judas and Silas head out to preach it to everybody in the world, except for the Asians.

They meet Timothy and circumcise him for old time's sake, meet a fortune teller, take away her powers, get beaten for that in jail, but sprung free by God again to preach and convert the Greeks, but not the Asians, with one solid yawn.

hi, hi, how you doing? It's Thomas here. And it's Thomas in the Bible.

It's, uh, the 231st episode of 260. Gosh, we are really closing in. We're going to be reading Acts 18 through 20.

And, uh, starts off real boringly. So why don't we just, you know, enough exciting verbal filibustering.

Let's get to the really, really boring stuff. This first chapter makes the

stammering I'm doing right now far more interesting. You're going to wish I were still stammering.

Pretty much just describes some things that people do, but like not, I know, basically every book could

be that, like, oh, that novel or whatever, that just describes things people do. How boring.

But it's like, yeah, but some things people do are more interesting than others.

You don't write a novel about going to the grocery store or, you know, I talk to a friend today

about stuff. Like, that's pretty much what this is. It's like, there's some random nothing that

happened. After these things, Paul departed from Athens and came to Corinth and found a certain

Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately, come from Italy with his wife Priscilla,

because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome and came unto them.

And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them and wrought, for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks. And when Silas and Timothyus were come

from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.
