Welcome to our new project, the Daily Bible Devotional. The goal is to help you understand and apply

scripture as you go through a New Testament Bible read five days a week, Monday through Friday,

as we move from Matthew straight through to Revelation. In under four minutes each morning, we will recap the chapter,

make some application, present thought questions for the day, and offer a prayer together.

Welcome to our study today from Acts the 17th chapter.

Paul continues his second missionary journey with stops in Thessalonica, Berea, and Athens.

In Thessalonica, Paul reasons with the Jews in the synagogue,

explaining that Jesus is the Messiah who fulfill the scriptures.

While some believe, others incite a riot, forcing Paul and Silas to flee to Berea.

The Bereans are praised for their eagerness to examine the scriptures daily to verify Paul's teachings.

Many believe, but opposition arises again, prompting Paul to leave.

In Athens, Paul is stirred by the city's idolatry

and engages with philosophers in the Ariopagus. He proclaims the one true God, emphasizing his power,

God's power to create all things and his call for everyone to repent of their sins. He informs them

that God will judge the world, providing

proof by raising Jesus from the dead. It's an interesting point about Jesus' resurrection. It is

proof of God's future judgment. The centerpiece of the gospel is the resurrection of Jesus from

the dead. Nearly every sermon in Acts highlights the evidence for and

significance of this momentous event. In Thessalonica, Paul uses the resurrection to demonstrate

that Jesus is the Christ. In Athens, the philosophers are challenged by Paul, who is, quote,

preaching Jesus and the resurrection. Paul concludes his sermon to the Athenians by declaring Jesus as the final judge,
