Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

Here on Searchlight, we have been looking at an interesting story in Acts Chapter 17. In this story,

the Apostle Paul arrives in Athens, a very pagan city. This city casts a very interesting parallel

to our modern culture. Because of this, we can learn much from this story in Acts. Let's now

join Pastor John as we continue our

verse by verse study in Acts 17. Acts chapter 17, we left off at verse 16. Paul arrived in Athens, Athens, the cultural and intellectual capital of the ages.

Athens, the city of Aristotle, of Plato, of Socrates, of Euripides,

Athens, where great thinkers congregated, where philosophy was formed, Athens.

But when Paul got to Athens, we saw that as he began to move through the city, his spirit

was stirred in him when he saw the city was wholly given to idols all around him he saw temples and

altars that were dedicated to various idols various deities these idols allowed the

antheneans to live lifestyles that they wanted to pursue.

If you were into drinking, you would worship at the temple of Bacchus.
