Good morning. I was pleased when Pastor Ben invited me to take part in this sermon series this

morning because the Book of Acts is one of my favorite books in the Bible. And this I was pleased when Pastor Ben invited me to take part in this sermon series this morning

because the Book of Acts is one of my favorite books in the Bible.

And this chapter, chapter 13 of Acts is a pivotal, a hinge in the book where everything changes.

And everything changes because the full name of the book of Acts is Acts of the Apostles, as I think

many of you already knew. And in the first 12 chapters, when we talk about the Apostles, we're

talking about mostly Peter and John. There's a smattering in there of Saul and Stephen and Philip

the Evangelist, but it's mostly what Peter and John are doing.

But all of the rest of the book here as we go forward is going to be the missionary journeys of Paul.

And this is important because as Paul talks about or Paul and Barnabas talk about

when they're in a Pasadian Antioch, that second part of our lesson today, the gospel

is meant to go to the ends of the earth. And we learned that in Acts 1. Acts 1 has the Great

Commission where Jesus says, as I leave you, just before he ascends, stay in Jerusalem until the Holy

Spirit comes, and then you'll be my witnesses

in Jerusalem, in Judea, and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. But what happens here in Acts 13

is two things that as the gospel starts to expand. One is it's expanding in places in terms of where it's going to be shared,

which is happening a lot at this time in history.

But also it's happening, expanding in terms of who is telling that story.

So at this point, the apostles...
