Welcome to our new project, the Daily Bible Devotional. The goal is to help you understand and apply

scripture as you go through a New Testament Bible read five days a week, Monday through Friday,

as we move from Matthew straight through to Revelation. In under four minutes each morning, we will recap the chapter,

make some application, present thought questions for the day, and offer a prayer together.

Welcome to our Bible study today found in Acts Chapter 13.

The church in Antioch commissions Paul, formerly Saul, and Barnabas to embark on their first missionary journey following the Holy Spirit's guidance.

They travel to Cyprus, where they preach in synagogues and face opposition from Elamus,

a sorcerer who attempts to prevent the Pro-Consul surges Paulus from believing.

Paul, filled with the spirit, rebukes Elemus, and temporarily blinds him.

Witnessing this, the Pro-Consul believes.

Paul and Barnabas then continued to Pasidian Anniak,

where Paul delivers a powerful message recounting Israel's history and proclaiming the glory of the

resurrected Christ, which fulfills God's promises to Israel. Many Gentiles believe and rejoice,

but Jewish leaders grow jealous, forcing Paul and Barnabas to leave the district.

Despite the opposition, the truth spreads, and the disciples are, quote, filled with joy and the Holy

Spirit. That's so awesome. No circumstance can defile that when we know who we are in Jesus.

The Holy Spirit guides Paul and Barnabas on a journey to share the truth about Jesus.

Their commission serves as a reminder that the Holy Spirit is still alive and active today

with work prepared for us to do as well.

Paul's courage in confronting Elemus demonstrates how God supports us when we stand against those who reject Jesus.
