A few months in the Lindsay Jill Roth's transatlantic courtship with a handsome English man,

he made an offhand comment that hit her like a gut punch.

But I don't know you well enough yet.

Despite hours-long conversations on FaceTime and memorable dates in London and New York City,

Lindsay realized that he was right.

They didn't know each other very well,

and their budding relationship, while romantic, was hardly practical.

And so Lindsay proposed something radical. She asked him if he would be completely willing to be

vulnerable and honest and to let her ask anything that she wanted. She dug deep. She did research, and she came up with a

list of questions to ask so that they could try to do this, so they could try to make this work.

So they could figure out not just how to know each other, but how to know if the other person

was the right person for them.

Lindsay has now taken this research, all of these questions, and put it in a book called

Romances and Practicalities. Spoiler alert, it worked for her because the two of them are now

married and living in London with their kids.
