discover a substance capable of stimulating the central nervous system.

After using himself as a guinea pig,

he emerged from the experience stating that,

I became aware of the wonder of creation,

the magnificence of nature, and convinced his employers at the Sandoz

laboratories that he may be on to something.

They agreed and cautiously put the substance into production, but the question then became

what to do with it?

What exactly did the world have on its hands?

Sandors themselves began testing it as a cure for everything from schizophrenia to criminal

behavior, sexual perversions and alcoholism.

Military forces, including the US, Canada and Britain, began testing the substance as a potential truth serum

and even a form of chemical weaponry.

Testing took place upon the homeless, terminal disease patients and veterans.

For a brief time, Hope was held out that it could offer some form of cure for mental

afflictions such as shell shock and post- battle trauma. Slowly, word began to

filter down to other professions, including the psychiatric sector, who began to wonder about applications in their field.
